The Nordic TSOs are continuing preparations for MARI accession while working closely with the European project to ensure a robust and well-functioning market setup. As a consequence of the progress with regards to implementing the Nordic change request to mitigate risk of undesired price spreads, the Nordic TSOs expects a new target date after the summer next year.
Stable market operation is a key concern
The Nordic TSOs consider the Nordic mFRR EAM clearing process to function well. Following several iterations after go-live the necessary adjustments to support stable and reliable market operation is now in place. It is crucial that market participants do not experience a setback in this stability during the transition to MARI.
Following continued dialogue between the NBM program and the MARI organization, it has become clear to the Nordic TSOs that the timeline for the implementation of the Nordic change request to mitigate the risk of undesired price spread in MARI is incompatible with the planned Nordic accession in Q1 2027.
To mitigate the risk of unexpected market impacts in relation to implementation, the Nordic TSOs will wait until the solution has been implemented in MARI before initiating Nordic go-live activities.
New go-live date not yet decided
The implementation of the Nordic change request is an iterative process in collaboration with the MARI organization. The results and ongoing analysis will need to be closely monitored before an implementation date for the solution in MARI can be determined. Once a firm timeline is available, a new Nordic go-live date can be agreed upon in collaboration with the MARI common service provider.
The Nordic TSOs expect the new target date to be after the summer next year, with September or October 2027 currently considered the most likely timeframe. The date will depend on the agreed timeline for the MARI solution implementation and will be confirmed as the project progresses.
