Nordic mFRR Energy Activation Market entry into operation on 3 December 2024

The go-live date of Nordic mFRR EAM has now been set to 3 December 2024. Consequently, the Nordic TSOs will now intensify cooperation with market participants to prepare to put new mFRR EAM products into use and move to automatic balancing of the Nordic synchronous area.  

During this autumn, the Nordic TSOs have been working with assessment of scope and reorganisation to plan for the Nordic mFRR EAM go-live. 

The planned go-live of flow-based market coupling is a prerequisite for Nordic mFRR EAM (automated balancing), which again is a prerequisite for 15-minute time resolution in the energy markets.  These projects are all scheduled in close order and will substantially transform the way the Nordic TSOs operate the power grid.

Each TSO is now in the process of making detailed plans for local implementations and onboarding of national balance-responsible parties/balance service providers. More information about test plans and support for onboarding will be published on your national TSO’s webpage.
