The planned go-live date for a Norwegian mFRR capacity market is set for Sunday, 11 February

As communicated earlier, the original plan for the start of a Norwegian mFRR capacity market was 10 December of this year. However, after completing the final testing phase in late November, we identified some challenges with the algorithm that selects bids from participants. In some cases, it took too long time for the algorithm to process all the data. Therefore, it was decided to postpone the start until first quarter of 2024.

Since then, several measures have been implemented to achieve the necessary improvements to reduce the processing time of the algorithm, and preliminary tests show promising results. Based on these tests, Statnett has decided on a new plan for the start of the Norwegian mFRR capacity market in February 2024. The first clearance is now scheduled for Sunday, 11 February, for the operating day of Monday, 12 February. Additional testing will be conducted in the coming period to verify all aspects of the start.
